First Lady Kim Jung-sook's Private Visit to the 'Pyramid' During Egypt Tour
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] It was recently revealed that First Lady Kim Jung-sook, who accompanied President Moon Jae-in on his Middle East and North Africa tour, made a private visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Pyramids, during the Egypt stop.
According to the Blue House on the 3rd, First Lady Kim visited the Giza Pyramids, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site, privately during her visit to Egypt on the 19th and 20th of last month.
The Giza Pyramid complex is a term encompassing the world’s three major pyramids and the Sphinx, located about 13 km southwest of Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

President Moon did not accompany her due to scheduling conflicts, and First Lady Kim toured the pyramids with the Egyptian Minister of Culture. A Blue House official explained, "It was an official schedule, and both countries agreed to keep it private," adding, "There was a strong request from the Egyptian side to visit due to their efforts to revitalize their tourism industry."
