[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] BTS member Jimin was diagnosed with COVID-19 and appendicitis and underwent surgery.
On the 31st, BTS's agency BigHit stated, "On the afternoon of the 30th, Jimin experienced mild sore throat symptoms along with sudden abdominal pain and visited a nearby hospital emergency room, where PCR and detailed tests were conducted. The test results confirmed COVID-19 infection and acute appendicitis diagnosis, and based on medical staff recommendations that surgery was necessary, he underwent surgery in the early morning of the 31st."
According to the agency, the medical staff reported that the surgery was successfully completed, and Jimin is currently resting and recovering.
BigHit explained, "Due to the combination of COVID-19 infection and acute appendicitis surgery, he will be hospitalized for treatment for the time being. He currently has mild sore throat symptoms but is improving. During the period when the virus is considered contagious, he had no contact with other members."
