Gyeongnam Sets New Daily Record for Maximum Confirmed Cases... 755 Cases Reported
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] In Gyeongnam, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) entered the 700s for the first time ever, setting a new record for the highest number of confirmed cases in a single day.
Gyeongsangnam-do announced that as of 10 a.m. on the 31st, there were 755 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province.
By region, there were 298 in Changwon, 122 in Yangsan, 121 in Gimhae, 67 in Geoje, 62 in Jinju, 23 in Tongyeong, 16 in Hapcheon, 11 in Sacheon, 6 in Hamyang, 5 each in Miryang, Haman, Namhae, and Hadong, 4 each in Goseong and Geochang, and 1 in Sancheong.
By infection route, 457 cases were from contact with confirmed cases within the province, and 59 cases were from contact with confirmed cases from other regions.
Cluster infection cases include 8 related to academies in Yangsan (cumulative 182), 3 related to indoor sports facilities in Geoje (cumulative 48), 2 related to entertainment bars in Changwon (cumulative 146), and 1 related to childcare and educational facilities in Gimhae (cumulative 57). Among the confirmed cases, 13 were overseas arrivals.
Accordingly, the total cumulative confirmed cases in the province increased to 28,253 (5,011 hospitalized, 23,131 discharged, 111 deaths).
