[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Sampyo Group announced on the 30th that it will form and operate an 'Emergency Response Committee' to promptly address the Yangju quarry accident and prevent its recurrence.
The Emergency Response Committee is composed of top executives from the group’s affiliates, including Sampyo Co., Ltd. Presidents Kim Ok-jin and Moon Jong-gu.
The committee plans not only to manage the aftermath of the Yangju quarry landslide accident but also to establish a safety management system that can be applied to Sampyo Group in the long term and to internalize safety awareness among the management.
A Sampyo Group official stated, "We will cooperate closely with related agencies to fully focus on analyzing the cause of the accident, preventing recurrence, and supporting damage recovery."

Han Pun and Jeong Do-won, chairmen of Sampyo Group, visited the Yangju site on the same day to apologize to the families of the missing and to express gratitude to the personnel of the on-site rescue headquarters for their efforts.
