Engchem Lifesciences Registers as Vaccine Manufacturer and Supplier on 'COVAX Marketplace'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Engchem Life Sciences announced on the 27th that it has been registered as a vaccine manufacturing and supply company on the 'COVAX Marketplace,' a vaccine raw material brokerage platform operated by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
The COVAX Marketplace is a brokerage platform created to facilitate the supply of raw materials necessary for vaccine production through COVAX, the global COVID-19 vaccine supply network. Within the system, when vaccine manufacturers request essential raw materials needed for production, CEPI identifies key information and matches the supply companies with the demand.
As a participant in the COVAX Marketplace platform, Engchem Life Sciences plans to contribute to the manufacturing cooperation of global COVID-19 vaccines, including the ZyCoV-D COVID-19 vaccine, which is scheduled to produce more than 80 million doses annually starting this year, by requesting and providing essential materials required for vaccine manufacturing.
Engchem Life Sciences signed a manufacturing license technology transfer agreement for the ZyCoV-D COVID-19 vaccine with India's Zydus Cadila in November last year, and this month, it signed a follow-up contract with Hanmi Pharmaceutical for the contract manufacturing of vaccine drug substance (DS). Engchem Life Sciences expects that once ZyCoV-D is in full production, it will be supplied through COVAX in the future.
