Initially, Mr. A, who had adopted out the victim cat to the perpetrator, shared the incident on the online community "Thankful to Be a Cat" on the 21st.
Mr. A is known to have rescued and treated a two-month-old mackerel-patterned cat abandoned outside an apartment complex in October last year, then adopted it out to Mr. B. However, a month after the adoption, Mr. B informed him that "the cat suddenly bit too much, so I rehomed it to another resident in the apartment."
Hearing Mr. B's explanation, Mr. A became suspicious because the cat he had adopted out was gentle, not prone to biting. Mr. A then confronted Mr. B, who eventually lied, saying "the cat ran out the door and got lost."
However, when Mr. A personally spent money to distribute flyers and began searching nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, Mr. B changed his story, saying "I threw it away."

Regarding this, Mr. B claimed, "It seems like a traffic accident," but after examining the cat, the veterinarian opined, "It appears to be a cut wound caused by a box cutter, not an accident." Only then did Mr. B confess, "I did it with a box cutter in a fit of anger. I am truly sorry."
Mr. A later shared a lengthy apology letter sent by Mr. B. In the letter, Mr. B said, "I caused a lot of pain not only to the rescuer but also to my acquaintances. I am sorry for lying," and "When I found Jjang-i (the cat) again, I hated myself. Seeing the wounds and going to the hospital, I felt guilty every second."
He continued, "My actions were unforgivable. I will never forget," emphasizing, "My desire to find Jjang-i again was sincere. I will never ignore a sick cat again."

Mr. A explained the cat's condition after abuse by Mr. B, saying, "The leg nerves are dead, so the cat drags it around, and it is better to amputate than to have the skin necrotize," adding, "Due to the trauma, the eye can only perceive light, and if it spreads to glaucoma, removal will be necessary."
He added, "I am afraid of retaliation because I know (even if Mr. B is punished) it will likely end with a simple fine."
