Don't Miss the Golden Time! ... Busan Office of Education Supports Schools with 586 Automated External Defibrillators
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will provide an additional 586 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to schools at all levels to enable emergency treatment within the golden time of 4 minutes in case of emergencies.
Currently, all elementary, middle, high, and special schools in the Busan area have at least one AED installed.
The additional support targets schools where the distance between buildings makes it difficult to secure the golden time and private kindergartens without AEDs installed.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education conducted a demand survey for kindergartens and schools at all levels in August last year.
Based on the survey, AEDs will be provided to a total of 586 units across 514 institutions: 274 units for 251 private kindergartens, 109 units for 95 elementary schools, 73 units for 66 middle schools, 120 units for 92 high schools, 5 units for 5 special schools, and 5 units for 5 accredited lifelong education facilities.
For kindergartens and elementary schools, both adult and child pads will be provided so that AEDs can be used for both children and adults.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will support the purchase cost of AEDs with 2 million KRW per unit, totaling 1.172 billion KRW, to the target schools in March.
