[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] The Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul announced on the 24th that it will hold an ordination ceremony at Myeongdong Cathedral, the cathedral of the archdiocese, on the 28th.
According to the archdiocese, during the ordination ceremony held at 2 p.m. that day, 23 deacons will receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders from Archbishop Jung Soon-taek, the archbishop of the archdiocese, and be ordained as priests.
The Sacrament of Holy Orders is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, known as the "Seven Sacraments." Through this sacrament, priests are entrusted with the mission to proclaim the word of God, administer sacraments, and especially celebrate the Mass as collaborators of the bishop.
On the 27th, a diaconate ordination ceremony will be held at the same location prior to the priestly ordination.
