Iguyoung Lee, CEO of Hanwha Q CELLS, Appointed as the 14th President of the Korea New and Renewable Energy Association
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Lee Gu-young, CEO of Hanwha Solutions Q CELLS division (Hanwha Q CELLS), will lead the Korea New and Renewable Energy Association.
Hanwha Q CELLS announced on the 24th that CEO Lee Gu-young was inaugurated as the 14th president of the Korea New and Renewable Energy Association at the 59th board meeting and the 2022 regular general meeting of the association. The new president will perform various external roles for the continuous development of the renewable energy industry over the next three years.
The Korea New and Renewable Energy Association was established in 2001 with the purpose of developing the renewable energy industry and protecting the common interests of the industry. As of 2022, 420 member companies have joined. The association has promoted improvements in renewable energy-related laws and systems, technological innovation, professional workforce training, international exchange, and support for overseas expansion.
The new president joined Hanwha Group in 1990 and has been involved with Hanwha SolarOne and Hanwha Q CELLS, Hanwha Group's solar subsidiaries, since 2011. From October 2019 for about two years, he served as CEO of Hanwha Solutions Chemical division, and in September last year, he was appointed CEO of Hanwha Solutions Q CELLS division.

The new president said, "At a time when responding to the climate crisis and carbon neutrality have become major issues in the international community, I will do my best to ensure that the domestic renewable energy industry fulfills its role." He added, "We will promote joint growth through unity with association member companies, maintain a close cooperative system with the government, and strive to develop the renewable energy industry into a promising future industry."
