[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 23rd that it will launch the 'What to Eat Today?' service, introducing various foods through the department store's mobile application (app) from the 24th to the 30th.
To celebrate the New Year, discount coupons will also be provided for traditional dishes shared with family, such as rice cake soup (tteokguk) and bulgogi. Seasonal fresh ingredients like livestock products, fruits, seafood, as well as ready-to-eat meals, batter and frying powder, and oils with high purchase demand will also be available at discounted prices.
The coupons can be used during the event period at Shinsegae Department Store's main branch, Gangnam branch, Centum City branch, Daegu Shinsegae, Gwangju Shinsegae, Gyeonggi branch, Uijeongbu branch, Times Square branch, and Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science Food Market.
On the Shinsegae Department Store app's gourmet introduction page 'Seasons and Table,' various stories themed around 'dumplings' are presented. It introduces the origin of dumplings, regional characteristics, ingredients, food pairings, and recipes.
First launched in 2020, Seasons and Table is a type of magazine containing information about food. It combines illustrations, photos, and videos to create a lifestyle magazine-like experience, providing diverse information such as alcoholic beverages, drinks, and desserts that pair well with food.
The Shinsegae Department Store mobile app is evolving into a lifestyle platform by offering diverse content. Beyond brand discount information, it provides the latest trends, shopping experiences, and humanities knowledge, engaging in differentiated marketing unique to Shinsegae.
In June last year, it was the first in the industry to start the beta service of 'My Room' through the mobile app. The My Room service is an SNS platform equipped with social functions such as following and followers among users. Based on electronic receipts, users can freely share brand and restaurant star reviews through photos and texts. Shinsegae plans to utilize this service to collect various customer feedback and improve services.
