Last Year ELS Total Issuance Amount 72 Trillion Won 'Up 4.6% YoY'... Mirae Asset Securities Ranks 1st
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] The Korea Securities Depository announced on the 21st that the total issuance amount of equity-linked securities (ELS), including equity-linked bonds (ELB), reached 72.2 trillion KRW last year, marking a 4.6% increase compared to the previous year.
The issuance amount of ELS based on the domestic KOSPI 200 index was 27.9 trillion KRW, a 0.9% decrease from the previous year. On the other hand, the issuance amounts of ELS based on major overseas indices, S&P 500 and Euro Stoxx 50, were 42.3 trillion KRW and 36.2 trillion KRW respectively, increasing by 15.6% and 16.4% compared to the previous year.
By issuance type, public offerings accounted for 89.7% (64.7652 trillion KRW) of the total, while private placements accounted for 10.3% (7.4124 trillion KRW). Public offerings increased by 11.9% compared to the previous year, whereas private placements decreased by 33.5%.
By securities company, Mirae Asset had the highest issuance amount at 9.6783 trillion KRW, followed by Korea Investment & Securities (8.1020 trillion KRW), KB Securities (7.7849 trillion KRW), Meritz Securities (7.4494 trillion KRW), and Shinhan Financial Investment (6.9779 trillion KRW).

The redemption amount of ELS was 76.1715 trillion KRW, a 2.9% decrease from the previous year. Among these, early redemptions accounted for 66.1% (50.3 trillion KRW), maturity redemptions 31.2% (23.8 trillion KRW), and mid-term redemptions 2.7% (2.1 trillion KRW). The outstanding issuance balance decreased by 6.1% from the previous year to 57.6 trillion KRW.
