HJ Heavy Industries Holds Ceremony to Declare Eradication of Serious Accidents
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] HJ Heavy Industries held a declaration ceremony to eradicate serious industrial accidents on the 20th at construction sites nationwide and the Busan Yeongdo Shipyard, among other business locations.
At the event, CEO Hong Moon-gi, executives, employees, and partner company staff gathered to announce the safety and health management policy and pledge to practice it. CEO Hong visited a redevelopment project site in Daegu and defined the company's safety and health management policy as "creating a safety and health culture based on adherence to basics and principles." He also presented plans to faithfully implement the safety and health management system, comply well with regulations, and eliminate hazardous and risky factors in advance by reflecting workers' opinions.

The company received a "Very Excellent" rating in the public construction safety management level evaluation from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Among 135 evaluated companies, only six, including HJ Heavy Industries, received this grade. Last month, it also won the grand prize in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's Safety Management Awards. CEO Hong stated, "Safety is an irreplaceable value and can never be emphasized enough," adding, "The shipbuilding division has had no serious accidents for six consecutive years, and the construction division for two consecutive years, but we will not be complacent. All executives and employees will participate to establish a safety management system and eradicate serious accidents."
