Gwangyang Farmers Hold 'Direct Transaction Market' for Lunar New Year Celebration
January 20-21 (Two Days) Showcasing Agricultural Specialties at Public Parking Lot Next to Hoban Apartment
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City in Jeonnam announced that it will operate the ‘Seolmaji Gwangyang Farmers’ Direct Market,’ where excellent agricultural specialty products produced in Gwangyang can be safely purchased, for two days starting from the 20th in celebration of the 2022 Lunar New Year.
This market will be held at the public parking lot at the Hoban Apartment intersection (former terminal) in Jungma-dong from January 20 to 21 (two days), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sixteen companies will participate, selling various excellent agricultural specialty products from Gwangyang at prices lower than the market price, including gorosoe mineral water, pears, ginger syrup, dried persimmon sets, wild pear juice, honey, processed plum products, freshwater clam soup, herbal tea, traditional Korean confectionery sets, and yugwa (traditional Korean fried snacks).
To prevent local COVID-19 infections, only farms that have completed vaccination and those who have undergone pre-COVID-19 testing are allowed to participate. Temperature checks and a safety call service will be conducted, and visitors’ quarantine passes will also be verified.
Na Seung-do, Director of Agricultural Product Marketing, said, “We hope this will provide some help to farms struggling with sales due to the resurgence of COVID-19,” and added, “We hope that during the upcoming Lunar New Year, people will feel the warm and abundant kindness and affection through Gwangyang’s excellent agricultural specialty products.”
