Coinone to Collaborate with POSTECH on Joint Research in Crypto and Blockchain Technology

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Domestic cryptocurrency exchange Coinone has decided to jointly conduct research on crypto and blockchain technology with POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology).
On the 19th, Coinone announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with POSTECH for joint research and development of crypto and blockchain technology at POSTECH's International Hall the previous day. The signing ceremony was attended by Cha Myung-hoon, CEO of Coinone; Kim Moo-hwan, President of POSTECH; and Hong Won-ki and Woo Jong-soo, co-directors of POSTECH's Crypto Blockchain Research Center.
This collaboration is the first case in the industry to provide long-term support for academic research on cryptocurrency. It is expected to strengthen academic research and development in the cryptocurrency field. The research will be primarily conducted and jointly operated by POSTECH's 'Crypto Blockchain Research Center (CCBR)' and the 'Coinone Research Center (CRDC)'.
At Coinone's CRDC, a 'Coinone-POSTECH R&D Cooperation Promotion Committee' will also be newly established, consisting mainly of Coinone executives and POSTECH professors. The project will include ▲ joint research and development of future finance innovation-oriented cryptocurrency and blockchain technology ▲ fostering outstanding talent through internships and scholarship programs ▲ socially responsible technology research and development for the sound development of the cryptocurrency market ▲ blockchain and virtual asset venture incubation such as hackathon hosting. Coinone plans to support this with a budget of 1 billion KRW over the next five years.
