Jung Yong-jin, 'Anti-Communism' Apology Followed by 'Victory'... "History Makes You Strong"

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Chung Yong-jin, Vice Chairman of Shinsegae Group, resumed his social network service (SNS) activities by mentioning 'certain victory' just five days after apologizing for the controversy over 'Myeolgong (destroying communism).' The book is a historical essay that reinterprets failed history from a strategic perspective and criticizes the distorted reality of history education.
On the 18th, Vice Chairman Chung posted a photo of the 2020 book "History Makes You Strong" by former Minister of Knowledge Economy Choi Joong-kyung on Instagram, writing, "You must become strong to win."
He separately posted chapters from the book titled "The ruling class of Joseon who wanted to become dwarfs themselves," "The real reason Admiral Yi Sun-sin is great," and "What if Joseon had sided with the Manchus during the Ming-Qing transition in the 17th century?" along with hashtags such as 'Certain Victory' and 'History Makes You Strong.'
He also publicly underlined the sentence, "History makes you strategic and makes you strong. A strong you brings success and creates a strong Republic of Korea."
Earlier, on the 13th, Vice Chairman Chung apologized, saying, "If even one colleague or customer turns away because of me, nothing can justify it," and "If anyone was hurt by my freedom, it is entirely my fault."

This was in response to a statement released by the Korean Federation of Trade Unions' National Emart Labor Union expressing "deep concern over Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin's words and actions that cause discord among customers and the public and damage the company's image." The Emart union welcomed Vice Chairman Chung's apology, bringing the so-called 'Myeolgong' controversy to a close for the time being.
