Jeju Fire Station Conducts 'Emergency Rescue Control Team Joint Agency Training'
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Fire Station (Chief Ko Jae-woo) announced on the 18th that it conducted a ‘Joint Agency Emergency Rescue Control Team Drill’ at Pier 7 in Jeju Port to strengthen disaster response capabilities.
The drill was conducted with the participation of firefighters and related agencies (Jeju Coast Guard, Southern Fisheries Management Unit, Jeju Shipping Association).
The drill assumed a disaster scenario where a large passenger ship docked was struck by a tsunami, causing it to crash into the international passenger terminal building, resulting in multiple casualties and buried victims.
The detailed drill activities included ▲initial response training by the self-defense fire brigade ▲search and rescue training for buried victims ▲maritime search and rescue training.
Ko Jae-woo, Chief of Jeju Fire Station, said, “Through drills similar to real situations, we will proactively strengthen on-site response capabilities to respond quickly and accurately to any disaster situation.”
