Minister Jeong Eui-yong Visits Ark Unit to Encourage Soldiers

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Jeong Eui-yong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with key government and military officials including Security and Defense Strategy Secretary (Lieutenant General Kang Shin-cheol) and Joint Chiefs of Staff Civil-Military Operations Director (Major General Jeong Deok-seong), visited the Ark Unit stationed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 17th (local time) to encourage the troops.
President Moon was unable to attend due to other schedules, but he asked Minister Jeong to convey his encouragement and sent gifts such as wristwatches and Hangwa to the Ark Unit soldiers with a heartfelt message.

The Ark Unit, meaning "brother" in Arabic, is the first unit dispatched for military cooperation since the establishment of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. It was initially deployed in 2011 following a dispatch request from the Crown Prince of the UAE in 2010, marking its 11th year of deployment this year.
