Public-Private Partnership Underway to Secure Necessary Funding
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 17th, Gyeongnam Province announced that it will secure funding to support the digital commercialization of citizen sports industry companies and to create an ecosystem for employment and start-ups in the sports industry.
Until now, the province has mainly supported traditional sports industry sectors such as event hosting and sports organizations, but it will now include the rapidly growing digital sports industry sectors such as artificial intelligence and sports data to expand new job opportunities and start-up chances for sports industry companies.
To secure funding for this, it is collaborating with Gyeongnam Technopark, Gyeongnam Sports Industry Promotion Support Center, and sports industry companies.
Specifically, it will participate in the 'Sports Tech Project' to be announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to secure national funding.
The Sports Tech Project is a business that creates new markets by combining sports equipment manufacturing companies with 4th industrial technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data.
On the 10th, the province held a planning meeting to participate in the project. The meeting was attended by Technopark, Gyeongnam Sports Industry Promotion Support Center, R&D B, and Highball, where they discussed the direction and roles of the Sports Tech Project.
Im Jae-dong, head of the Sports Support Division of Gyeongnam Province, said, “We will collaborate with related organizations to ensure the smooth securing of national funding so that the Gyeongnam sports industry can become a future growth industry.”
