[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education has finalized the '2022 Ulsan Character Education Implementation Plan,' which practices Character Growth, Character Enrichment, and Character Sharing, and has informed all kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in the city.
The 2022 Character Education Implementation Plan, established reflecting the 2nd Comprehensive Character Education Plan, has the vision of "Nurturing democratic citizens equipped with character competencies to lead future society."
The education aims to "cultivate civic character for responsible social participation and moral character that respects and cares for others, the community, and nature."
The educational strategy consists of six key tasks and 23 practical tasks, including Character Growth, Character Enrichment that cultivates life, and Character Sharing practiced together, through strengthening the curriculum.
The Ulsan Office of Education plans to create a character-friendly school culture by strengthening the curriculum and conducting character education activities linked to the 'One School, One Character Brand' and the characteristics of each school.
They also intend to establish student-centered classes in classrooms and expand character education-focused lessons.
The Office supports teacher training related to character education to enhance the capabilities of schools and teachers in character education and has proposed measures to spread a warm school community culture and support respectful and caring classroom communities.
The character education plan emphasizes securing schools' autonomy in character education and practicing character education within the regular curriculum, specifying educational activities on related themes such as democratic citizenship education and human rights education, as well as their relationship with other policies.
The Office of Education stated, "It is meaningful that we have presented the policy direction of character education reflecting the diverse demands of a changing society and the era's requirements to cultivate core competencies for future talents."
