Up to 500,000 KRW Monthly 'Quarantine Support Fund' Provided to Wedding Halls Nationwide
From the 19th, up to 6 million KRW annually paid to 900 wedding halls

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will provide up to 500,000 KRW per month in quarantine support funds to wedding halls nationwide.
On the 16th, the Ministry announced that, separate from small business loss compensation, it plans to provide up to 500,000 KRW per month and up to 6 million KRW annually to 900 wedding halls across the country to support the wedding hall industry, which has seen reduced sales due to COVID-19 quarantine measures.
The support fund recipients are businesses registered as wedding halls that hold at least one wedding per week during the month of support payment. The support amount will vary depending on the number of weddings held weekly.
For example, if Company A holds at least one wedding per week for 4 weeks in February, it can receive up to 500,000 KRW; if it holds weddings for 3 weeks, it can receive 325,000 KRW.
The business announcement will begin on the 17th, and the support funds will be paid in January. The funds can be used for purchasing quarantine supplies such as thermometers or for paying labor costs. Wedding halls currently operating weddings are eligible, and applications can be submitted to each city, province, or district office.
The wedding hall industry was included among the business sectors severely affected by a sharp decline in sales following the spread of COVID-19. The government decided to provide quarantine support funds, anticipating that as quarantine conditions improve and phased daily recovery resumes, the burden of quarantine-related costs may increase due to a rise in the number of users.
