Chain Collision Involving Truck and Motorcycle on Dorim Overpass, Yeongdeungpo, Seoul... 2 Dead
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] In Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, a 1-ton cargo truck crossing the center line collided with two motorcycles, resulting in the deaths of two motorcycle riders.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 14th that they are investigating Mr. A, a driver in his 50s, on charges of causing death by negligence under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of driving his vehicle at around 10:10 p.m. the previous day on the Dorim Overpass in Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, crossing the center line and colliding head-on with two motorcycles coming from the opposite direction, and subsequently hitting a passenger car and a truck following behind.
As a result of the accident, two motorcycle riders in their 50s, who were delivery workers, were transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but died.
Mr. A, his passenger, and the drivers of the other truck and passenger car all sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated that the brakes did not work.

A police official said, "We are investigating the exact cause of the accident, including whether there was a brake failure."
