7 Dead, 2 Missing Due to Flooding at Hydroelectric Power Plant in Sichuan Province, China
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] A flooding accident occurred at a hydroelectric power plant building in Sichuan Province, inland western China, resulting in at least 7 deaths.
China Central Television (CCTV) reported that at around 1:40 PM on the 12th (local time), a valve rupture caused flooding at Unit 3 of the Xiaojinchuan River Guanzhou Hydroelectric Power Plant in Danba County, Ganzi (甘孜) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, trapping 11 people.
Following the accident, authorities deployed about 400 personnel for rescue operations, managing to save 2 people. As of the afternoon of the 13th, 7 people have been confirmed dead. CCTV reported that 2 people are still uncontactable.

The accident caused flooding of some buildings and vehicles around the power plant, a section of the nearby road was blocked, and 150 local residents were urgently evacuated.
