Fire Agency Activates 'Central Accident Joint Investigation Team' for New Construction Site Fire in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The National Fire Agency announced on the 13th that it will launch a 'Central Accident Joint Investigation Team' to determine the cause of the fatal accident at a new construction site in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, which occurred on the 5th.
The joint investigation team plans to review the entire process, including initial response, fire suppression and rescue activities, on-site command procedures, issues in situation management, and prevention work by construction personnel and fire departments, in order to establish measures to prevent recurrence.
The investigation team leader will be jointly appointed by the public and private sectors, and the team will be composed of five divisions: investigation coordination, on-site response investigation, prevention system investigation, situation management investigation, and safety accident investigation, to ensure objectivity, fairness, and credibility.
The team consists of a total of 34 members, including 2 accident investigation experts, 2 professors specializing in fire and architecture, 1 legal expert, 4 experts recommended by labor unions, and officials from the National Fire Agency.
