Orion Introduces 'Global Carbon Emission Integrated Management System'
Global Eco-Friendly Management in Full Swing
Carbon Emissions to Be Disclosed Externally
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Orion announced on the 13th that it has introduced a 'Global Carbon Emission Integrated Management System.' The Global Carbon Emission Integrated Management System is a web-based system that efficiently manages key data such as greenhouse gas emissions, emission permits, and emission facility status of Orion's domestic and overseas business sites and production plants in Korea, China, Vietnam, and Russia. It operates in five languages including Korean, English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Russian, allowing local employees to easily input and analyze data.
Orion plans to use this system to set annual carbon emission targets at the group level, integrate data management, and implement greenhouse gas reduction activities. The performance of these efforts will be transparently disclosed externally through the official website as part of strengthening Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. In October last year, Orion became the first in the domestic food industry to complete third-party verification that meets international standards for greenhouse gas emissions from domestic and overseas corporate business sites, certified by the Korea Standards Association.
Orion has continuously engaged in various eco-friendly activities linked to ethical management. In March last year, it established the 'Green TFT' (Green Task Force Team), composed of personnel from six departments including production, facilities, and management, to build a global-level integrated carbon emission management system. The Cheongju and Iksan plants were highly recognized for their efforts to reduce carbon emissions and were selected as target sites for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 'Greenhouse Gas Reduction Support Project.' At the '47th National Quality Control Circle Competition,' the Cheongju plant's 'Only Orion' circle was awarded the highest honor, the Presidential Gold Prize, for two consecutive years for its greenhouse gas reduction achievements. Additionally, the Chinese corporation reduced greenhouse gas emissions by installing equipment that recovers and recycles waste heat generated from the swing chip fryer and boiler at the Langfang plant.
