Daejeon City Announces First Half Year Preliminary Social Enterprise Designation Contest
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon City government will open a public contest for the designation of preliminary social enterprises in the first half of this year.
The city announced on the 13th that it will hold the "2022 First Half Daejeon City Preliminary Social Enterprise Designation Project" contest until the 25th.
Applicants must be enterprises that have an organizational form defined by the Social Enterprise Promotion Act (such as corporations and cooperatives under civil law, companies under commercial law) and whose main purpose is the realization of social objectives.
Applications can be submitted through the Ministry of Employment and Labor's Social Enterprise Integrated Information System. The final selection will be made in March after on-site inspections and face-to-face evaluations by the screening committee.
To apply for designation, applicants must meet requirements such as conducting business activities like producing or selling goods or services in the month of the announcement date and using at least two-thirds of distributable profits for social purposes.
The designation period is three years, during which enterprises can participate in job creation support projects and business development support projects for two years.
The job creation support project provides labor costs at the minimum wage level for up to 50 employees per enterprise. The labor cost support rate is 50% from the first to the second year for preliminary social enterprises, and 40% from the first to the third year for certified social enterprises.
The business development support project offers up to 50 million KRW annually for two years, with a self-payment rate of 10-20%.
For more details, refer to the announcement posted in the Notice section on the city’s website or contact the city’s Social Economy Division, the Social Economy Research Institute, or the social enterprise departments of the autonomous districts.
