Gyeongbuk Province's Online Shopping Mall 'Saiso' Hits Jackpot... Record-Breaking Sales Last Year
Last Year 25 Billion KRW Sales, 53% Increase Compared to Previous Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 13th that despite the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, ‘Saiseo,’ Gyeongbuk’s representative online shopping mall, achieved record-breaking sales thanks to its online non-face-to-face marketing performance.
Looking at Saiseo’s operating results from last year, the number of registered farms increased by 29% from 2020 to 1,385 farms, the number of members rose by 94% to 66,000, the number of registered products grew by 75% to 8,631 items, and sales increased by 53% to 25 billion KRW.
The notable achievements were attributed to initiatives such as a new member sign-up doubling campaign, monthly themed events, special sales to mitigate distribution damage, and expanded operation of Saiseo’s partner malls including Post Office Mall, Naver, and Market Kurly.
Additionally, continuous collaborative events were held with related organizations such as Nonghwal Gapsida and Korea Together Sale, and consumer-tailored targeted marketing played a role by integrating shopping malls from seven cities and counties including Sangju.
Annual statistics within Saiseo Mall show that the sales ranking of agricultural specialty products by city and county is Yeongju, Andong, and Sangju in order. By product category, processed foods accounted for the highest sales at 20%, followed by fruits, rice, and livestock products.
Among Saiseo’s registered businesses, 47 locations, including C Farm which sells apples, recorded annual sales exceeding 100 million KRW.
The representative of C Farm expressed satisfaction, saying, “We had many difficulties because well-grown agricultural products did not receive their proper value, but thanks to Saiseo, we were able to conduct direct online transactions with consumers and focus solely on production.”
This year, to achieve the goals of 50 billion KRW in sales, 120,000 members, and 2,000 registered farms for the Gyeongbuk hometown market Saiseo, promotional marketing support will be strengthened, and efforts will be made to manage the quality of registered farms and agricultural products.
