Gwangyang City Library Delivers Books Directly to Your Store
Book Delivery Service for Small Business Owners' 'Reading Shops' 운영
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang City Library in Jeollanam-do announced that it will operate a book delivery service to 'Book-Reading Stores' as a reading service for small business owners in the region to spread the reading culture in the local community.
'Book-Reading Stores' is a service where the city library directly delivers books to operators of small stores with two or fewer employees and customers visiting the stores. It has been steadily implemented since 2016 and has received positive responses from citizens.
Last year, a total of 4,019 books were delivered to 19 stores in the Gwangyang-eup and Jungma-dong areas, nearly tripling the orders compared to 2020. The response was especially high from places frequently used by citizens, such as beauty salons and cafes.
The owner of a beauty salon in Gwangyang-eup, who is using the 'Book-Reading Stores' book delivery service, said, "Customers can spend time reading books while waiting for their turn, so I can handle work with ease and without anxiety."
He added, "During slow hours, I also enjoy reading the books I requested. I will continue to use the book delivery service and actively promote it to nearby stores."
Currently, small business stores in the Gwangyang-eup area are being recruited by the Central Library, and those in the Jungma-dong area by the Jungma Library, for this year's book delivery service.
A representative of the Gwangyang City Library said, "We have prepared this policy to help small business owners who do not have time to visit the library and citizens who use the stores to read. We hope many local stores will participate."
