30-Year-Old Driver Arrested After Drunken Chase with Police
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A driver who not only took the wheel while heavily intoxicated but also continued driving after being caught was apprehended by the police.
According to the police on the 11th, the Gangdong Police Station in Seoul has booked and is investigating a man in his 30s, Mr. A, on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
Mr. A is accused of ignoring police broadcasts to stop his vehicle and driving approximately 6 km in a heavily intoxicated state on Olympic-daero in Gangdong-gu at around 2:10 a.m. When Mr. A continued to flee, the police blocked his vehicle with a patrol car, but Mr. A reportedly rammed the side of the patrol car. Fortunately, the police officers inside the patrol car did not sustain serious injuries. Investigations revealed that Mr. A was in a state of intoxication severe enough to warrant license cancellation.
