KAI and 7 Other Organizations Sign Business Agreement Related to Aerospace and Defense Industry
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 11th that it has signed a business agreement for strategic cooperation in the aerospace and defense industry sectors with seven organizations including Korea Aerospace Industries, academia, research institutes, and government agencies.
The signing ceremony was held at the Korea Ceramic Technology Institute, attended by Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il, Korea Aerospace Industries CEO Ahn Hyun-ho, Gyeongsang National University President Kwon Soon-gi, Changwon National University Vice President Lee Soo-hyun, Korea Ceramic Technology Institute Director Jeong Yeon-gil, Korea Testing Laboratory Director Kim Se-jong, Defense Technology Quality Institute Director Heo Geon-young, and Sacheon City Vice Mayor Hong Min-hee, among other representatives from each organization.
Jinju City and the seven organizations will work together to discover new projects related to aerospace and defense industries and provide mutual support when hosting aerospace-related conferences, aiming to promote the development of aerospace and defense industries.
They will also form the Western Gyeongnam Aerospace Defense Industry Council (tentative name) to conduct regular working-level meetings, provide technical and policy advice, plan and discover new projects, advance existing projects, derive policy support tasks, and propose tax and legal improvements.
Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il said, “Today’s business agreement will greatly help the organic exchange among institutions playing a pivotal role in the aerospace and defense industries, which are national strategic industries and future innovation growth engines, as well as strengthen the competitiveness of the local aerospace and defense sectors.”

The exchange and cooperation among Jinju City and the seven organizations are expected to foster the ‘aerospace and defense industry,’ a key industry in the western Gyeongnam region, and serve as an opportunity to further enhance the technological competitiveness of the aerospace and defense sectors in western Gyeongnam by utilizing the infrastructure of regional research institutions and universities.
