Jeonnam Province and Provincial Office of Education Join Forces to Prevent Student COVID-19 Infections During Vacation Period
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province and Jeonnam Office of Education held an emergency quarantine measures meeting on the 11th and decided to put all efforts into preventing COVID-19 infections among students during the vacation period.
At the meeting, more than 20 quarantine officials from the province and the Office of Education attended to share the COVID-19 occurrence status among students in the province and discuss joint response measures to block infections.
As the new Omicron variant spreads nationwide and confirmed cases in Jeonnam continue to rise, vaccination for children and adolescents aged 12 to 17 is still underway, making it urgent to establish student quarantine measures.
In particular, as students use academies and study rooms more frequently during the vacation, managing quarantine outside of school has become important. Recently, 21 people including students, teachers, family members, and acquaintances were infected in a cluster at a language academy in the province.
Accordingly, Jeonnam Province and the Office of Education decided to strengthen student quarantine during the vacation through collaboration.
The main agreed measures include expanding non-face-to-face classes at academies during the vacation, strengthening quarantine inspections such as banning eating and drinking inside academies and study rooms, and supporting quarantine supplies such as rapid antigen test kits and masks.
