"CJ ENM, the 'Cradle of New Writers,' Opens Applications for the 6th Season of Drama and Film 'Open Storyteller'"
A total of 35 candidates to be selected, benefits for successful applicants include writing rooms, creative support funds, mentoring, and more
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] CJ ENM announced on the 11th that it is recruiting the 6th generation of storytellers for its new creator discovery, nurturing, and debut support project 'O'PEN'.
Applications for the drama category will be accepted from the 11th to the 17th of this month, and for the film category from the 8th to the 14th of next month. The drama category accepts submissions divided into 60-minute single-episode works and 30-60 minute series. Applicants can freely submit up to 5 works for the drama category and up to 3 works for the film category. Eligibility requires that applicants must not have any writing contracts with broadcasters or production companies as of June this year.
A total of about 35 people will be selected for the 6th generation, and the final successful candidates will be announced in May. Planning proposals and scripts can be submitted through the O'PEN website.
Selected writers will be individually provided with a private writing room at the O'PEN Center located in Sangam-dong, Seoul, and a creative support fund of 10 million KRW. Benefits such as mentoring and special lectures by capable directors and writers active in the industry including CJ ENM and Studio Dragon, field research, and business matching will be offered. All copyrights belong to the writers themselves.
O'PEN alumni writers have solely written tvN's 'Gaetmaeul Chachacha' and KBS's 'Police University', co-written the TVING original 'Adult Trainee', and debuted through tvN's single-episode drama program 'Drama Stage'.
