Fractional Investment Platform 'Peace' Raises 4.3 Billion KRW in Pre-Series A... Cumulative Investment Reaches 5.2 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Bisell Standard, the operator of the fractional investment platform 'PIECE,' has secured 4.3 billion KRW in pre-Series A funding. The cumulative investment amount now stands at 5.2 billion KRW.
Bisell Standard announced on the 11th that it recently raised 4.3 billion KRW in pre-Series A funding from KB Investment, Hana Ventures, and others. Hana Ventures participated as the lead investor in this round. Including the 900 million KRW seed investment, the total cumulative investment reaches approximately 5.2 billion KRW. The company explained that this is an unusually large amount for early-stage investment prior to Series A funding.
Fractional investment is a method of dividing shares to invest in assets such as buildings and music copyrights. PIECE provides a service that helps purchase ownership of rare physical assets like luxury goods and distributes the capital gains generated later. After launching a luxury physical portfolio consisting of 11 Rolex watches in April last year, it sold out all ownership shares within 30 minutes of release.
Bisell Standard is a startup originating from the TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup) program led by private investment. It has also participated in financial sector acceleration programs such as KB Starters and Shinhan Future's Lab. Recently, it received awards including the Small and Medium Business Corporation Chairman’s Award and the Seoul Center for Creative Economy and Innovation Director’s Award.
The company is also starting an NFT (Non-Fungible Token) business. Through the application 'PIECE 2.0,' launching in March this year, it will issue NFTs. This is to evolve into a platform that allows investment not only in physical assets like Rolex watches but also in digital assets such as NFTs. They are also considering launching Korea’s first 'PIECE collateral loan' service, which uses ownership of physical assets as collateral, in partnership with financial institutions. Additionally, they plan to consecutively release cooperative products based on financial services such as membership-based 'PIECE subscription investment' and deposit management.
The company aims to build the industry’s first fractional investment ecosystem that encompasses both investment and consumption of physical assets. Their strategy is to unify fractional investment products such as luxury goods, artworks, and real estate under the brand 'PIECE.'
Junho Jang, Senior Investment Officer at Hana Ventures, said, "The greatest strength of PIECE is that it can expand beyond fractional investment to various services connecting consumption and finance. If it receives designation as an innovative financial service and enhances stability and reliability, it can become a service that revitalizes the financial ecosystem."
