The Chilwon Community Watch Group was formed in December last year with members from nine local community organizations to protect low-income elderly living alone and to continuously identify vulnerable groups.
The Good Morning for Elderly Living Alone Project targets elderly living alone who are vulnerable to heatwaves in summer and cold waves in winter. Members of Chilwon-eup and local community organizations establish one-on-one connections with the elderly and make daily check-in calls to prevent safety accidents or solitary deaths.
Through phone calls, they assess whether the elderly living alone have any issues with daily activities such as meals, and provide care services by informing them of safety guidelines like refraining from going out and maintaining indoor warmth to prevent harm from the winter cold.
If contact cannot be made by phone, they visit the elderly directly to check on their safety, establishing a continuous protection system.
