Startup Popular for Doing Household Chores
Laundry 'Lundrigo' · Cleaning 'Cheongso Yeonguso' and Others Grow 20% Monthly
Startup services responsible for household chores such as laundry and cleaning are gaining popularity. The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has increased the time people spend at home and changed lifestyles, leading to a significant rise in users. Each company, fiercely competing with differentiated services, has expanded its business beyond service provision into the e-commerce sector by selling related products.
According to Uisikju Company on the 13th, the non-face-to-face mobile laundry service 'Laundrigo' has recently seen its order volume and sales grow by an average of 20% per month. Based on this growth trend, Laundrigo processed 2 million individual cleaning orders, 6 million liters of daily laundry, and 250,000 items of bedding, living goods, and shoes last year. The growth trend due to the winter cold wave is even more noticeable. At Laundrigo, weekend water laundry orders at the end of last month increased by 150% compared to the previous three months.
Cheongso Research Institute, which operates the home cleaning service Cheongso Research Institute, also reported an average monthly growth of around 20%. Cheongso Research Institute is a service that has moved housekeeper brokerage services to an IT platform, allowing customers and cleaning managers to search, book, and manage through a mobile app. With service area expansion, the number of registered cleaning managers recently increased to 54,000. Since the service began in January 2017, home cleaning service reservations have exceeded 1 million households and accumulated 3.43 million cases over the past five years.
These startups are expanding their business areas from product development and sales based on platform competitiveness. A representative example is Laundrigo's recent launch of its private brand (PB) 'Life Goes On.' This method delivers products along with laundry through a dedicated laundry collection box. Laundrigo allows customers to receive various daily necessities without delivery charges along with their laundry. The products sold include regularly used items such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, and toothbrushes, as well as towels, bedding, T-shirts, underwear, and socks?product groups that can be managed through laundry and repair services.
