Ulsan Education Advances with 'Universal Welfare'... Ulsan Office of Education Supports Elementary School Enrollment Preparation Funds and High School Students' School Trip Expenses
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Office of Education will, for the first time starting in March, provide an entrance preparation fund to all elementary school entrants.
Middle and high school students in the Ulsan area receive support for school uniform costs upon enrollment, but there was no separate support for elementary school freshmen.
The city education office decided to provide the entrance preparation fund to address the lack of support in educational welfare and to ease the financial burden on parents for the new semester.
The entrance preparation fund will be 100,000 KRW per student, given to all new students regardless of parental income, applied for at each school during March, and paid into the students' school banking accounts.
The budget is 1.112 billion KRW and is funded entirely by the education office's own resources.
Additionally, the support for high school field trip expenses, which was previously limited to low-income and multi-child families, will be expanded to all students up to a maximum of 200,000 KRW.
With the expansion of field trip support, about 8,000 additional students will benefit, in addition to the approximately 1,700 existing beneficiaries such as low-income students.
If grades that suspended field trips last year due to COVID-19 wish to hold them, the education office will also support the field trip expenses for those grades.
The education office has allocated an additional budget of over 2.3 billion KRW for field trip support, bringing the total support budget for elementary, middle, and high schools to over 7.3 billion KRW.
This is the largest support budget ever and is fully funded by the education office's own resources.
