Chungnam Expands Honors for Those Involved in the 'Democratization Movement'
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is expanding its support for those involved in the democratization movement. The province plans to provide a separate honorary allowance to related individuals who do not qualify for living support payments due to income and property criteria, aiming to enhance pride in the democratization movement.
According to the province on the 10th, the honorary allowance will be paid at 60,000 KRW per month to democratization movement-related individuals who have maintained resident registration within the province for more than one year and are aged 65 or older as of the application date.
The honorary allowance is provided to democratization movement-related individuals who were excluded from receiving living support payments because their monthly income exceeded 100% of the median income in the existing income and property investigation. It cannot be paid concurrently with existing living support payments.
Applications can be made by visiting the resident center of the applicant’s jurisdiction with an ID card, a certificate of democratization movement-related status, and a copy of the bankbook. Consultations and applications are also available through the resident center of the applicant’s jurisdiction and the Chungnam 120 Center.
The payment of the honorary allowance is based on the support grounds established through the amendment of the “Chungnam Province Ordinance on the Treatment and Support of Democratization Movement-Related Persons” in July last year and the establishment of enforcement regulations in November.
