Goyang-si Applies 'Egg Sorting and Packaging' to Commercial Use... Strengthening Hygiene Surveillance
Distribution after selection, washing, drying, sterilization, egg inspection, and packaging
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province will expand the 'Egg Sorting and Packaging Distribution System' from household eggs to commercial eggs starting this year.
According to Goyang City on the 10th, the 'Egg Sorting and Packaging Distribution System' is a system that requires egg sorting, washing, drying, sterilization, candling, and packaging at edible egg sorting and packaging facilities applying HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards before distribution. The system was applied to household eggs starting from April last year.
Recipients must keep the issued 'Edible Egg Sorting and Packaging Certificate' for more than six months, and when supplying eggs to other businesses (such as marts, supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, and collective catering facilities), a copy of the certificate must also be provided and kept by the receiving business for more than six months.
Accordingly, starting this year, edible egg collection and sales businesses that distribute or sell commercial eggs without sorting and packaging will be subject to administrative sanctions according to relevant laws.
However, considering the stable establishment of the system and the difficult economic situation caused by COVID-19, a guidance period will be operated until June 30.
