Gangdong-gu Conducts Safety Inspections of Private Housing and Construction Sites Ahead of Lunar New Year Holiday
Safety Inspections at Over 50 Private Residential and Construction Sites in the Region Ahead of Seollal Holiday... Administrative Actions and Frequent Safety Checks for Sites with Repeated Issues
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will conduct safety inspections on about 50 private housing and construction sites under construction in Gangdong-gu before the 2022 Lunar New Year holiday.
This safety inspection aims to identify and eliminate risk factors in private housing and construction sites where the risk of accidents is high and many hazardous factors are scattered on-site, and to raise safety awareness among site personnel and management entities.
In particular, the period before the holiday sees a significant increase in the accident rate due to the demand for excessive work schedules to meet construction deadlines. Large construction machinery (such as tower cranes) and heavy equipment operate frequently on-site, so large housing and construction sites with a total floor area of over 10,000㎡ must pay extra attention to safety.
The inspection will be jointly conducted by the Gangdong-gu Architectural Safety Center and architectural experts (such as architectural construction engineers and construction safety engineers) from the Seoul City Architectural Safety Advisory Group. Minor issues found during the safety inspection will be immediately corrected on-site, while serious issues will result in an immediate halt of construction, with work resuming only after completion of necessary corrections.
Furthermore, sites with repeated or habitual violations will face strong corrective orders including administrative actions against related personnel, and additional safety inspections will be conducted regularly to verify improvements.
