Sejong City Designates 28 'Restricted Entry Zones' for Spring Wildfire Prevention
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 7th that it will designate and operate restricted entry zones and prohibited areas for carrying fire-related materials during this spring's forest fire prevention period.
The designated restricted entry zones include 28 forest areas covering 4,524 hectares and 5 hiking trail routes totaling 17.2 km. The restriction period is from April 1 to May 15.
During this period, entry into the restricted zones requires prior permission. Those who enter without permission will be fined up to 200,000 KRW according to Article 57, Paragraph 5 of the Forest Protection Act.
In particular, anyone entering the restricted zones while carrying fire, flammable, or combustible materials will be fined up to 300,000 KRW under Article 57, Paragraph 4 of the Forest Protection Act.
However, entry without notification is allowed for forestry projects such as afforestation, forest maintenance, forest road facilities, or for academic research and resource surveys.

Lee Gyu-myeong, Director of the Forest and Park Division, stated, “We ask visitors to exercise special caution to protect the forests from wildfires,” and added, “The city will do its best to protect citizens’ lives and property through forest fire prevention activities and initial firefighting responses in case of emergencies.”
