CJ Freshway Launches Healthy Nuri Elderly-Friendly Food... Accelerating Care Food Market Strategy
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CJ Freshway, a food ingredient distribution and group catering specialist under CJ Group, announced on the 7th that it is accelerating its market penetration by launching eight types of senior-friendly foods through its care food specialty brand Healthy Nuri.
Healthy Nuri's senior-friendly foods were developed considering three key factors to enable the elderly to easily consume meals: ▲balanced nutrition ▲promotion of digestion and absorption ▲ease of mastication. The products are available not only in large quantities for group catering but also in single-serving small packages, allowing welfare centers and similar facilities to provide substitute meals on weekends.
The newly released products include softened rice bowl sauces and side dishes. The sauces consist of three types: ‘Uni Jjajang Rice Bowl Sauce,’ ‘Lotus Leaf Bean Curry Rice Bowl Sauce,’ and ‘Bulgogi Egg Rice Bowl Sauce.’ The side dishes include five types: ‘Beef Bulgogi,’ ‘Gochujang Pork Bulgogi,’ ‘Soy Sauce Pork Bulgogi,’ ‘Braised Lotus Root,’ and ‘Braised Black-eyed Peas.’
Among these, the three types of bulgogi and the ‘Braised Black-eyed Peas’ have been recognized for their expertise by simultaneously obtaining the senior-friendly food KS certification from the Korea Food Research Institute and the senior-friendly excellent food certification from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, marking an industry first. Both certifications are granted only to manufactured and processed products that meet certain standards in physical properties, form, and composition to assist the elderly in intake, nutritional supplementation, digestion, and absorption. CJ Freshway plans to obtain senior-friendly food-related certifications for the three rice bowl sauces and five additional side dishes to be released within the first half of this year.
CJ Freshway launched senior-friendly foods in preparation for entering a super-aged society where the domestic population aged 65 and over reaches 20%. CJ Freshway aims to strengthen the foundation of the Healthy Nuri brand and accelerate the development of private brand products to secure a competitive edge in the care food market.
