Daejeon Health and Environment Research Institute Introduces Fine Dust and Ozone Measurement Vehicle
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon City Health and Environment Research Institute announced on the 7th that it will establish a mobile measurement system from April and introduce and operate fine dust and ozone measurement vehicles.
Measuring fine dust and ozone through vehicles is introduced to overcome the limitations of the existing fixed measurement method, allowing air pollution levels to be measured without restrictions on location and time, and to create conditions for rapid response in case of air pollution incidents.
The measurement vehicles will be equipped with devices capable of measuring fine dust (PM-10), ultrafine dust (PM-2.5), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), benzene, and meteorological factors such as wind direction, wind speed, temperature, humidity, and solar radiation.
Through this, the Health and Environment Research Institute expects to conduct air quality surveys in air pollution vulnerable areas, citizen-requested areas, and areas exceeding air quality standards, as well as collaborate with related departments to monitor air quality in case of air pollution incidents.
Meanwhile, according to the "2016-2020 Air Quality Evaluation Report" released by the Health and Environment Research Institute in December last year, primary air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide in the urban atmosphere of Daejeon during the survey period maintained very low concentrations or showed a slight decreasing trend.
