Goheung-gun Accepts Applications for Agricultural and Livestock Support Projects

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced that it is accepting applications for the 2022 agricultural and livestock support projects aimed at improving the quality of life for farmers and strengthening agricultural competitiveness.

The county plans to invest 104.4 billion KRW in subsidies for major support projects, including a total of 135 projects: △19 projects in agricultural policy △31 projects in food production △22 projects in horticulture, fruit, and specialty crops △63 projects in livestock and quarantine, reflecting the voices from the field and helping farmers overcome difficulties caused by COVID-19.

In particular, the ‘Women Farmers Happiness Voucher Support Project’ will be fully subsidized without any self-payment starting this year. New projects tailored to field demands, such as ‘Mandatory Self-Help Fund Support for Eco-Friendly Agricultural Products,’ ‘Support for Cold Damage Prevention Facilities for Open-Field Fruit Trees,’ and ‘Support for Livestock Disease Immunity Enhancers,’ will also be promoted to accelerate the enhancement of farm competitiveness.

Additionally, Goheung-gun plans to maximize the expansion of the ‘Income Support Fund for Farmers, Foresters, and Fishermen’ established independently by the county and the Jeollanam-do ‘Rural Development Fund’ projects to improve agricultural and fishery productivity. Support will be provided within the limit of 50 to 200 million KRW to farmers, forestry and fishery workers, farming corporations, new knowledge-based farmers, and returnees to farming.

A county official stated, “Applications will be accepted until the end of January 2022, and final beneficiaries will be confirmed in February to implement the projects before the busy farming season.” He added, “To ensure no one misses the application, we will produce and distribute agricultural and livestock support project guides to town and township offices and producer organizations, and thoroughly promote the projects in advance.”
