Jeonnam Fire Department Secures 72.1 Billion KRW in Fire Safety Grants from Ministry of the Interior and Safety
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Kim Joil) announced on the 6th that it has secured 72.1 billion KRW in fire safety grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety this year.
The fire safety grant is funded by 45% of the individual consumption tax imposed on cigarettes and is a fire resource supported by the government to expand fire and safety facilities and strengthen safety management.
The total amount of fire safety grants distributed to 17 cities and provinces nationwide is 864.8 billion KRW, with Jeonnam Fire receiving 8.3%, or 72.1 billion KRW.
Although this is a 6.2% (4.2 billion KRW) decrease compared to last year's 76.8 billion KRW, this reflects the completion of a 4.6 billion KRW helicopter purchase last year.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters will allocate resources for personnel expenses and reinforcement of aging fire equipment in accordance with the purpose and intent of the fire safety grant.
This year, 11 billion KRW will be allocated for the replacement and reinforcement of 32 fire vehicles, 7.8 billion KRW for reinforcement of fire, rescue, and emergency medical equipment, and 6.1 billion KRW for relocation, new construction, and environmental improvement of fire stations.
