Deputy Foreign Minister Choi Jong-geon Meets JCPOA Negotiators... Consensus on 'Critical Phase'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 5th (local time), Choi Jong-geon, First Vice Foreign Minister, met consecutively with Robert Malley, U.S. Special Envoy for Iran, and other representatives involved in the restoration negotiations of the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA - Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) to hear updates on the situation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Vice Minister Choi, who visited Vienna, Austria, met with Enrique Mora, Deputy Secretary-General of the European Union (EU) External Action Service, who plays the role of coordinator among all nuclear negotiation representatives, as well as Philip Herrera, Director General of the French Secretariat of State, R?diger von, Director General for International Order, United Nations, and Disarmament of Germany, and Rob Macaire, UK Director for Iran Affairs.
During the meetings, Vice Minister Choi listened to the latest developments in the nuclear negotiations and agreed that the talks have reached an "important phase."
He also urged the negotiating parties to make further efforts to achieve positive progress, considering that the outcome of the Iran nuclear negotiations will have a significant impact not only on the parties involved but also on other countries.
