Lee Jae-myung, CES 2022 Meeting: "We Must Create a Free Environment for Business Activities"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, held a video conference with domestic companies participating in the US CES on the 6th and stated, "The government must create a free environment for corporate activities."
On the same day, Lee attended the 'CES 2022 Live' innovative company policy meeting held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and said, "Regulations are supposed to enhance competition and efficiency, but if regulations are instead limiting competition and efficiency, it is desirable to resolve or ease them for the overall economy." He also added, "Regarding this, there is a part that our country’s role must be reconsidered once again during this period of crisis and upheaval."
Lee stated that he would lay the foundation for the growth of innovative companies through large-scale national investment. He emphasized, "Now, we must navigate this period of upheaval well through large-scale national investment. At the core are infrastructure construction, investment in science and technology, and R&D support," and added, "We will not only restrain the government's role to the maximum so that you, the traders, can confidently compete worldwide and actively conduct business under the name of the Republic of Korea, but also fulfill the necessary roles."
