US State Department Condemns North Korea's Ballistic Missile Launch
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] On the 5th (local time), the U.S. government condemned North Korea's projectile launched into the East Sea, classifying it as a "ballistic missile."
A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department stated, "The United States condemns North Korea's ballistic missile launch," adding, "This is a violation of UN Security Council sanctions and a threat to neighboring countries and the international community."
They continued, "The United States will maintain its diplomatic approach toward North Korea and demands that North Korea engage in dialogue."
They also said, "Our commitment to the defense of South Korea and Japan is as strong as steel."
Earlier, North Korea launched one projectile presumed to be a ballistic missile into the East Sea.
This projectile launch marks North Korea's first show of force since the beginning of the new year.
