[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, has been finally selected in the public sports space contest for the disabled, the Bandabi National Sports Center.
The county announced on the 5th that it was finally selected for the 2022 Bandabi National Sports Center (for the disabled) contest project promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, securing 4 billion KRW in national funding.
The Bandabi National Sports Center construction project is a public sports space expansion project that allows people with disabilities to participate in sports activities anytime without restrictions within their living area.
The Imsil-gun Bandabi National Sports Center will be promoted with a total project cost of 8.2 billion KRW, including 4.2 billion KRW from the county budget, utilizing the site within the Imsil Public Stadium.
With a total floor area of 2,000㎡ and two above-ground floors, it will be equipped with various convenience facilities such as a gymnasium that can be used for multiple purposes including an aquatic exercise room, offices, and counseling program rooms.
Through the construction of the sports center, the county plans to relocate the cramped and outdated Imsil-gun Disabled Hall and establish welfare infrastructure for the disabled.
In particular, by enabling unrestricted and anytime enjoyment of sports activities, it is expected to greatly contribute to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the region.
The county plans to actively create infrastructure that allows people with disabilities to engage in various sports activities, along with improving their quality of life and health promotion.
Previously, the county invested a total project cost of 8.3 billion KRW to build a multipurpose gymnasium with a total floor area of 4,048㎡ and two above-ground floors within the public stadium area.
The multipurpose gymnasium is equipped with three tennis courts, ten badminton courts, lounges, shower rooms, and other convenience facilities, and will also house the offices of the Imsil-gun Sports Council and the Imsil-gun Disabled Sports Council.
The county expects that with the construction of the Bandabi National Sports Center following the multipurpose gymnasium, the public stadium area will become a landmark sports facility in the region where both non-disabled and disabled people can enjoy various sports activities.
It is also expected to be recognized as a place for communication and harmony as well as health promotion through sports activities of local residents.
In addition, the county has achieved significant results by promoting numerous living SOC projects where local residents of all ages and genders can simultaneously enjoy health promotion, recreational sports, cultural life, and various education, culture, and welfare services.
This includes newly building and operating the Imsil-gun Youth Culture House, public library, Imsil Happiness Sharing Center, Dementia Relief Center & Mental Health Welfare Center, as well as accelerating projects such as the Gwanchon-myeon Sports Culture Center and the Imsil-eup Happiness Nuriwon construction project.
A county official said, “The construction of the Bandabi National Sports Center will be a great help to people with disabilities who have experienced many inconveniences in using sports facilities compared to non-disabled people,” adding, “We will strive harder to improve the quality of life so that all residents can live healthily and happily.”
