Oh Byung-kwon Acting Authority, Emphasizes Public Service Discipline Ahead of Presidential Election 'Draws Attention'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Oh Byeong-kwon, Acting Governor of Gyeonggi Province, has been drawing attention by emphasizing the establishment of political neutrality and public service discipline among public officials continuously since the beginning of this year.
On the 4th, Acting Governor Oh held an "Emergency Issue Inspection Meeting on the Establishment of Public Service Discipline" with heads of departments related to public service discipline, including the Planning and Coordination Office, the Audit Office, and the Autonomous Administration Bureau, and ordered strong measures to establish public service discipline.
At the meeting, Acting Governor Oh said, "Because this is an acting governor system, we need to pay even more attention to political neutrality and public service discipline," adding, "Please implement specific preemptive measures immediately to prevent any leakage in provincial administration."
He continued, "In particular, there are cases where external parties raise issues regarding public institutions with vacant heads," and added, "Please build an organic cooperation system within the departments managing public institutions to ensure smooth communication so that public institutions can perform their functions properly."
On the same day, the province issued a special directive emphasizing public service discipline under the name of the Acting Governor of Gyeonggi Province and decided to implement specific measures by each department.
The Autonomous Administration Bureau will conduct surprise inspections related to attendance, such as overtime work and external business trips. The Audit Office will focus on inspecting whether public officials violate the Public Official Election Act. In addition, announcements related to public service discipline and specific violation cases will be broadcast around the end of working hours.
They will also inspect issues such as damage to dignity and acceptance of money or entertainment riding on the year-end and New Year atmosphere, non-compliance with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines, and negligence in safety management related to disaster accidents.
