Daegu City Council Urgently Calls for Improvement of Educational Environment in Seo-gu and Nam-gu
Research Service Presentation on Measures to Address Regional Imbalance Due to Educational Disparities by Districts
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Trainee Reporter Se-ryeong Lee] The Daegu City Council's research group, Daegu Legislative Future Forum, announced the results of the "Study on Measures to Resolve Regional Imbalance Due to Educational Disparities by District and County in Daegu," which was promoted as a policy research project last year.
The Daegu Legislative Future Forum, led by Councilor Yoon Young-ae, with joint participation from Councilors Kim Ji-man, Park Woo-geun, and Yoon Ki-bae, conducted the research project over three months from September to November last year.
The research project derived policy conclusions through secondary analysis based on survey results targeting parents and education stakeholders, as well as existing data.
According to the research report, educational disparities between regions within Daegu are widening due to differences in parents' economic power. Among them, Seo-gu and Nam-gu were found to have more severe disparities due to economically vulnerable environments and insufficient educational input factors compared to other areas, highlighting the urgent need for prioritized policy support.

Councilor Yoon Young-ae stated that she plans to propose policies to the city and the city education office to eliminate educational disparities between regions and take follow-up measures such as enacting ordinances, reflecting the research results.
