Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Urges Safe Use of Heating Devices During Winter
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Seobu Fire Station (Chief Moon Hee-jun) announced that on the 5th, marking Sohan (小寒), known as the coldest solar term, special caution must be taken when using heating devices that have a high risk of fire.
According to statistics from the Fire Agency, last year in Gwangju, among winter heating-related fires, there were 16 cases involving electric mats and electric heaters, 8 cases involving wood boilers, and 4 cases involving heating wires.
When using electric heaters, the following precautions should be observed: ▲Check for safety certification (KC certification) ▲Remove flammable materials around the electric heater ▲Keep at least 20cm distance from walls. When using electric mats: ▲Do not fold or crumple ▲Unplug when going out. When using electric heating wires: ▲Regularly check the insulation condition of the wires ▲Use products with temperature control sensors.
